Colorado Adventure
About This Project
This project marks my first time developing a learning solution in Storyline 360. Developing this project proved to be an engaging and enlightening experience for me. The process helped me learn the software and allowed me to explore my creative potential in designing a compelling project. Overall, the journey was both challenging and rewarding, and I am proud of the final outcome.
I tend to follow the ADDIE model when developing courses. I truly enjoy the entire process, from the writing and planning to the design, development, and deployment. However, designing and illustrating the slide layouts and selecting the graphics is definitely my favorite part of the process. I think that it shows in your finished product when you take the time and effort to find good-quality graphics rather than use the standard Articulate assets and templates.
Learner Interaction: Studies find that learner interaction leads to greater learning and high course satisfaction. That being said, learner interaction is a key component of all my learning solutions. The Colorado Adventure project illustrates learner interactions and Storyline 360 animation.
Responsibilities: Instructional Design, eLearning Development, Graphic Design.
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop.
Music: Young, hip, upbeat and fun, feel good music.
The ski scene: Illustrates a drag-and-drop interaction with immediate feedback. The learner will drag the ski gear to the car and everything else to the cabin.
Camping: When developing the Camping adventure animation, I had to put in a lot of effort to get the timing right. To do this, I used triggers and cue points that allowed me to jump from track to track on the different layers such as Rafting, Fly Fishing, and Camping. If the project calls for it, I like to add visually stimulating intros and outros.
Hiking: The hiking interaction illustrates an interactive slide layer with Storyline 360 narration. This module pre-dates Storylines’ new text-to-speech functionality, which is much improved compared to the narration used in this module.
Home Screen: The Home screen illustrates a Storyline menu with completion tracking. So that the learner can see what areas they have already viewed.
